I am available for specialised teaching, and provide some examples below, however, I can also respond to specific requests for healthcare and complementary medicine practitioners, teachers and clergy
Psych-neuro-immunology (PNI) and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and Cancer:
Understanding the subtle and intimate communication that takes place between the mind, emotions, and bio-chemical responses in an individual at the time of life threatening illness and treatment. This workshop will highlight the effects of the ‘stress response’ at the time of receiving a life threatening diagnosis. There will be detailed discussion of the emotional, neuro and bio-chemical consequences and how these responses can be ameliorated. An overview of current research will be given and clinical approaches will be described that can help the individual affected to cope, along with the ways and means of improving quality of life during and after cancer.
Integrative Cancer Care:
A wholistic approach to the effective integration of mainstream and medicine treatments for people experiencing cancer and its treatment. This workshop will identify how an integrated approach to supporting the client/patient at the time of treatment for cancer can help to support them by encouraging them to learn simple and practical self-help approaches, i.e. relaxation/imagery, and emotional / creative expression, which have the potential to improve their quality of life at the time and after treatment.
Healthcare and Spirituality:
It is important to recognise both secular and non-secular needs and issues that can arise for the person who is challenged by serious, chronic and life threatening illness and the life transitions that will naturally take place at such times. This workshop will include the use of simple meditation, self-reflection, imagery and storytelling, to explore the issues that are closet to the heart when considering the significant contribution of spiritual and religious beliefs can make to levels of health and quality of life, both for the client and for the practitioner.
